Peer Mentoring Program

Call for Applications 2026 is now open.

The deadline for peer mentoring applications is April 13 at 6:00 pm.

Mission Statement

Peer Mentoring Program is developed to provide the first-year students a welcoming and enjoyable first-year experience at AUA. Freshman students are assigned an experienced upper-undergraduate classman at new student orientation who helps them not only to transition well into AUA, but reach success in their academic, professional, and personal lives.

Mentors assist new students in achieving their goals and encourage them to become active members of AUA’s campus life. The program, with the help from the Office of Student Affairs, provides resources and activities for mentors and mentees to attend together and builds a bond that will last for years to come.

Who is a Peer Mentor

Peer Mentors are upperclassmen who guide freshmen at the early stages of their university life and serve as a source of support to them. They are knowledgeable and experienced students who develop and maintain a peer relationship that aims at helping first-year students to make a smooth transition from high school to university, to adjust to the new routine, and to develop a sense of belonging to the AUA community.

The mentor has a very important role in educating new students about different services and resources, advising on the skills needed to navigate university life as well as in serving as a positive role model both in the classroom and outside.

Peer mentors closely cooperate with the Office of Student Affairs and through group sessions and activities work towards creating an enjoyable first-year experience for the newly admitted AUA students.

To become a peer mentor a student must:

  • Be a full-time student in good academic standing (GPA 2.0 or above)

  • Carry out up to 6 sessions (4 mandatory and 2 optional) throughout the Fall Semester
